I got a camera for Christmas!!

Great news!!! I can now share my life with everyone through pictures thanks to Santa Claus!! He was very in tune with my needs this year! So let's not waste time and jump right into my Christmas!
This is just a special picture of Anna and myself on Christmas. No, you will not see pictures of Christmas morning because this girl looks ridiculous in the wee hours of the morning. We don't share those candids with anyone.

So back to the maraca saga. We had a fantastic Christmas morning and breakfast at our house before getting ready and heading up to Lila and Grandaddy's house for the day! Beth Ann had to work until 3:00, so we had some down time before we ate. Down time to me presents a premo time to whip out some carols on the ivories. And what do you know?! The piano was open!! So I played the fam some songs. I had my mom take a picture to document that I, in fact, had a turn this year.... And yes. Anna is on the maracas. My, how the tables have turned.

Well, then Anna decided to dampen the spirit of Christmas by stealing and hiding my maracas!!! What the heck?! I moped through our late lunch/ early supper... lupper if you will... I tried to recruit family members to help me track down my percussion. Well no one would talk. Luckily, I remembered that for some reason, Lila had 3 maracas! I only have 2 hands therefore had only taken 2 maracas out of the closet! I went back to the closet and got out the third maraca!! HA! Anna can't dampen my Christmas spirit that easily!
Therefore, the following still took place, as it does every year (although with one less maraca)...

Aside from what I'm sure appears to be a very musical and slightly annoying Christmas, we had a great day!! It's probably one of if not my favorite day of the year!!

So onto another fun activity! We were given a Rice Krispy Holiday House kit from the Shumperts for Christmas!! So tonight, Jocelyn and Emily were over here and we decided to make it!!

Here's Jocelyn with the ingredients to fun!

Anna was clearly VERY excited about what was happening!!

And Emily read us the instructions!

So here are the finished products!! One is mine and one is Anna's. Care to guess which is which??
Yes, the one on the left is Anna's and the one on the right is mine. Let me just share with you what all is going on with mine... the "blob" in the top right is a snowman handmade by myself. My house just has a lot of character, I think!

Ok, that's all for now! Hope everyone has a great remainder of the 12 days of Christmas! What are we on now? ONLY THE THIRD!??! Still a lot of celebrating left to go!!
Happy Holidays!!
Peace and Love!!

I'm HOMEEEEE!!!!

Well, I've been home since Friday!! SO exciting! So I got home and Christmas was in full swing at the Derrick house! Our tree was up, which I guess it was right after Thanksgiving, all our decorations were out, and even my little tree in my room was up! I LOVE CHRISTMAS TIME!!!
So here's some fun Christmas "traditions" at the Derrick house....
- Anna used to write the Christmas letter when we were younger. I got to "illustrate." That was my mom's way of telling me that I wasn't talented enough to write the letter. Eventually, I got to the age where I realized this, s0 I moved onto another project. Now, I write my own Christmas letter. It has some pretty substantial information if you ask me. Big events such as Anna's freshman 15 are announced in the letter every year. However, I'm not allowed to send this letter out to very many people. I don't really know why.
- The Christmas card picture is always a fun decision. Again, I am not allowed to have much to do with the choosing of the picture. This can probably be traced back to the time I took it upon myself to take the picture we were going to use and photoshoped it so that my hair was really really blonde and Anna had very dark skin. I switched Anna's skin color back to normal, but I kept my hair very blonde. Some of you may remember and/or still have this card. I'd hang on to it!! This year, the picture was decided and printed without my knowledge.
- Every year we go up to my grandparents' house on Christmas Day. While we're there waiting for everything to get started, Anna and Beth Ann, my cousin, play duets on the piano. I'm going to be honest. Its not like they're very good. But, I've always been told that I'm not allowed to play with them. So, once again, to be included in the spirit of Christmas, I had to take it upon myself to pull out some maraccas from my grandparents' toy closet. Anna and Beth Ann get mad at me every year, but that anger could easily go away if they would give me some of those keys.

It just wouldn't be Christmas without all this! Love it!!!!!

Hope everyone is having a great holiday season!!
Lots of Love!

Who told me this would be awful?

Can I just say that I am thoroughly enjoying exam week! Is that weird? I am seriously having such a good time! Sure, the studying is kind of unfortunate, but just this week has been amazing! I mean, we don't have classes, so its not like we are at a loss for time to get everything done. I got a pretty sweet care package compliments of the fam. Breakfast is being served nightly in GDH at 11:00. Seriously. Fun!
Let's see. Apparently there was a tornado, or something very similar last night. Who knew?! I slept right through the windy, stormy conditions.
I know that was short, but I just thought I'd let everyone know that I am by no means suffering this week!
Lots of Love!

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!

Well, its exam week. Fantastic. Just took my French exam. As usual, I threw in some accents when I was in doubt. But I think it went pretty well. I now have theater papers due tomorrow as well as my biology and chemistry exams throughout the rest of the week.
I seriously can't believe I've been here a whole semester! Its crazy!!
So, as this semester comes to a close, I thought I would share a list of some things I have learned so far at Presbyterian College:
1. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.
Example. Just because there is no attendance policy in French doesn't mean you should skip as often as you can.
2. Even though you live 50 yards away, leaving your room at 8:59 will make you late for a 9:00 class.
3. Never sign up for a night lab.
4. While the idea of staying up all night working may seem like a good idea, it isn't.
5. Waiting until the last week of school to worry about pulling your grade up in a class... bad idea.
6. Don't take theater.
7. You know you are spending too much time in the library when people are talking to you on facebook asking where you are when you aren't there. Although, there is no shame in a good library friend.
8. If you didn't exercise regularly before you came to college, you won't once you get here.
9. Only good things can come from talking to your professors.
10. You will never value your shower at home more than you do when you have a hall bath.

I'll be coming home on Friday. Get excited!! I'm so thrilled about not having ANYTHING to do over break!! Hope everyone has a good week! Prayers and positive thoughts would be much appreciated as I take these next 2 exams!
Lots of Love!!

Its been too long since something like this happened to me...

Wanna hear a funny story? Thought so.
Yesterday, I was walking from french to biology. By myself. It was right when classes were changing, so there were a lot of people in the area. I was walking in front of Springs on the sidewalk when all of the sudden I hit the pavement. Tripped. Took a tumble. Wiped out. Became friends with the concrete. I blame a few things: 1. Danskos... those things are bad news. 2. My unusually heavy book bag. It didn't help as I desperately tried to not fall all the way down. 3. I was really tired so there is a chance I was falling asleep as I was walking.
Have you ever been in that awkward situation where someone you don't know falls, drops something, etc. and you don't really know how to respond? Yeah, there was a girl walking right behind me who is now a member of that club. Poor girl.
So back to me. I just kind of laid there for a minute. I didn't know how to respond because clearly a lot of people saw me, so I couldn't really play it off like nothing had happened. Luckily Kate and Emily walked up so I went into Springs with them to get away from the scene of the accident. I went into the bathroom to realize my pants were covered in dirt and my hands were bleeding, along with my knee. So I mean, I had 2 more classes to get to so I couldn't go to my room to get cleaned up. Therefore, I sat through those 2 classes with dirty pants, bleeding. I went to my room and changed my pants after class. I thought about changing my shirt too in case people remembered me because of the outfit.
The aftermath: my phone has a really big scratch with concrete stuck in it, my hands have a lot of scabs... making it somewhat painful to write, and my knee is swollen.
So there you go. Pretty hilarious, and awkward. All in one. How special.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!!
Peace and Love!

What could possibly be done in a theater lab??

Ok. SO I'm sure most of you know that I am in introduction to theater. Well apparently we have to have 10 "theater lab" hours by the end of the semester. I noticed today that I have acquired 0. So off I trotted to rack up some hours. I walked in and they handed me a drill. An electric one. So putting me with power tools probably isn't an awesome idea. Just saying. Then they started getting all sassy when I would ask questions regarding how to operate said drill. I'm sorry. Its been awhile since I drilled last. Not only did I have to drill, I also had to do some heavy lifting. Seriously. What am I a man?! So I was so incredibly bitter. That has nothing to do with the theatrics if you ask me.
There's a meteor shower tonight. "Once in a lifetime," or so I've heard. I'm waiting until 1:30 to go watch this thing. Hence why I'm blogging right now. This better be good.
So I hope all of you have a fantastic week!! Peace and Love!

I'm building an ark out back!

Its pouring. Torrential downpours, really. It is wet outside, my jeans can prove it to you. Would you like to know what would be a premo gift for you to get me for Christmas? Rain boots. That would be fantastic.
So let's see... its been awhile, as always. Proof that I have a busy life.
News since my last blog:
1. I got the swine. That's right! This girl had it! I mean, I thought I was in the clear when so many people got it right there after rush and I didn't. Apparently I was not immune. I was gone for like a week, but I'm back and better than ever!
2. Anna broke her foot and tore a ligament. Last year it was the broken middle finger (too bad I don't have a picture from that to put up here!!), this year its a broken foot. She is sporting a fabulous boot around campus. She tends to hobble, no big deal. How did she break the foot? GREAT question!! She was out a few weekends ago and fell off the stage at one of the fraternity houses. Hobbles Derrick walked around for 2 weeks before going to the doctor about the deformed foot she had due to said fall.
3. Its Christmas time at Target and Marble Slab!! Blythe and I went to Simpsonville yesterday to get my broken phone fixed at Verizon, and to get a few things at Target. Well. We went down Target's Christmas aisle and I grabbed some of my favorite white chocolate peppermint hershey kisses. If anyone would like to send me some as a holiday treat, you can find my address on an earlier blog post. Then we went to Marble Slab and got some peppermint ice cream!!! Delicious.

On a much more serious note, my RA is missing. Her name is Heather. Please pray for her and for her family as they look for her.

Pi Pi ADPi!!!

Oh my goodness. So it has been so terribly long since I last blogged. I am so sorry! So much has happened in a month!! For one, I'm now an ADPi!!!! So exciting!! I have some exciting, embarrassing stories from rush as you can imagine. For example:
The second night I was a a certain party when I got a tickle in my throat. Bear in mind I was getting over a cold.  So everyone was quiet while the girls in the sorority were giving a very moving presentation. I was trying my hardest not to cough, but as you probably know, its pretty impossible to stop coughing when you have said tickle. So tears were welling up, I was shaking due to the inability to stop coughing.  The girl who was hosting me that night had to take me to the bathroom so I could get over the coughing spell.  Well, the bathroom was right there by the room, so my cough echoed through the room everyone was in.  It was still quiet in the room.  10 minutes later I emerged from the bathroom.  People kept asking me if I was ok.  I got a phone call from my sister later on that night asking me if I was ok, because she had heard I left the party balling.  Need I say again, IT WAS A TICKLE!
Typical.
So fast forwarding a few weeks, this weekend was our sisterhood retreat! We went to a camp in Travelers Rest.  It was FREEZING!!  For anyone who knows me, you know how I am with the outdoors as well as the cold, not good.  So it was an interesting 2 days, but it was so much fun! It has been SO cold here for like the past week!  And being the pro I am with packing, I failed to bring any pants besides jeans back with me from fall break, nor did I bring back any warm shoes.  Therefore, I have been trotting around campus with nike shorts and flip-flops.  Not ok. SO, I'm about to go home to get some much needed weather appropriate clothing!! Tonight I'll put up some pictures from Bid Day and other activities over the past month, as well as share any more stories I think of.
Pi love!
... not sure if I'm allowed to throw that around, I'll have to check with Anna.

An Hour and Five Minutes NOT Well Spent

Oh how I love Mondays!  It takes me awhile to get into the week.  Today: a great example of this.  So I woke up, early might I add, and went to my classes.  From class I went to lunch at GDH with my friends.  After lunch I was really tired so I came back to the room for a nap.  Like 5 minutes before class started, Blythe came in to get me, so I got out of bed and looked around for my book bag, I didn't see it.  I figured I was just tired so I asked Blythe if she saw it.  Bear in mind I don't have a large room so its not like I could loose it in here.  All of the sudden I realized I left it in GDH... like 3 or 4 hours earlier.  So I darted out of my room to GDH.  Luckily, they left the first set of doors open, and there sat my book bag, in it's little cubby.

Currently, I am on hold with HP technical support.  I have been on hold for going on 20 minutes.  If anyone has ever seen the Friends episode where Phoebe is on hold for like a day or 2, that's going to be me.  Well, while I'm waiting... want to hear about my weekend?
So here's some excitement!  I got my actual chemistry test back on Friday and I had a note on it from my professor telling me I had gotten the highest grade in the class!! Most of you have probably already heard this due to said excitement, but I'm pretty thrilled!  Can we all take a moment to remember how this kind of thing never happened to me in high school??
Thanks.
Ok, so Friday my friends and I went to Greenville to Takosushi for dinner!  So delicious!!  If anyone is coming up and would like to go to dinner, we can go there for sure!  I drove and navigated with the help of the Garmin without any problems!  Obviously, the lack of navigational skills didn't hit me like it did Anna (the sister).  We then went to Spill the Beans where we met up with Anna, Emily, and Nancy.  Again, it was delicious!!
Saturday it was Parents Weekend, so my mom and dad came up along with the Rickenbakers, who I was unaware were coming until that morning.  We went to the 1:30 football game which was sweltering!!  When I when the lottery at Bi-Lo, I intend to buy PC some lights for the stadium.  At half time we left, and headed down to Newberry for their football game.  It was at night, so it was much more pleasant!  Although that was a lot of football to take in in one day.
Sunday, I went Baptist!  It was a very good service.  I have yet to go Lutheran since I've been up here.  Hopefully that will change soon!

So now, an hour and 5 minutes later, I have a working printer.  Special thanks goes out to Gary, who sounded very Irish.

By the way, the flu is running amuck here at PC!! I am very concerned that I will catch it as rush is coming up, or even worse, during rush and miss rush all together!  Please send positive thoughts this way!
Peace and Love

I Got a 78!

So its not nearly as bad as it could have been!  I got a 78 on my biology test, which in college is a high C!  Sidenote: still getting used to the college grading system.  So I was pretty ok with the grade.  Although I am now required to attend Friday afternoon study sessions.  Wonderful.

The highlight of my day today would probably be this right here...

On our way to lunch, we stopped by Elizabeth and Sarah Beth's room.  They set out a dollar tied to a string in front of their window so that when people walked by and went to pick it up, they would pull it away.  So we went to lunch and came back and watched this whole thing go down.  It was so hilarious!! Unfortunately, I had to go to lab today, so I was unable to watch for too long.  Here's another one, just because I enjoyed it so much...

402 is hunted! I confirm!  So as several of you may or may not know about my room, I have a hallway and staircase that leads to nowhere.  Well, down that hallway is a very random door that's all of 2ftx 2ft... maybe.  Well the door has a latch that has been shut since the day we moved in.  Yesterday, the door decided to unlatch itself and open and close on its own.  So NOT ok!!!  This follows our TV turning off on its own.

The door...

Oh, by the way, for those of you who have been reading the blog since the beginning, you may recall the miscommunication about Chinese acrobats coming to PC at the beginning of the year.  Turns out, after checking my CEP dates just now, that Chinese dancers are coming in November.  In case any of you were still wondering.  I know I was.
Have a great weekend!!

Just Catching You Up

So its been awhile since I last blogged. My apologies.  I guess I was too busy studying my life away.  I had a chemistry test on Friday and a biology test Monday.  It was a little bit ridiculous.  I was up into the wee hours of the morning Thursday night and pretty late on Sunday studying for these things.  But GREAT NEWS!!! I got a 91 on my chemistry test!!!  Really, I am so very excited! Biology, however, is a whole nother story.  I went into the library on Sunday afternoon around 2:00.  I went to dinner and came straight back and stayed until a little after midnight.  So I go to my test the next day, opened it up and there was an entire page of questions that I was clueless on.  Awesome.  So while I have not gotten that test back yet, I feel more than confident that I will be whipping out no 91, but let's all hope for the best.  I find out tomorrow what I made.
Aside from academia, in other news, I played the lottery for the first time today... at Bilo.  Exciting?  Very. I won my $2 back, but then I decided to buy another one and then lost it.  So sad, but I like to think that $2 will go toward my state scholarships.  Let's see... my tennis future is looking brighter and brighter!  I have found some people who are more on my level to play with.  If nothing else, I get a workout from running across several courts chasing balls.
Emily came to see me this past weekend!  I wish she would come to PC, but I just don't think that's going to happen. My parents also came up on Saturday for the football game.  It was a pretty fun weekend!  Sunday morning, again, we had every intention of going Lutheran, but we couldn't find the Lutheran church.  So we went Methodist instead.  It was really good!  But then it was time to hit up the library.  Story of my life. Really, I spend so so much time in there.

Random, but I have decided to post some pictures of events since I've been here at PC...

This is move in day... hence why we all look so pretty.

The first PC game at Furman

The first PC home game

There's more, but its annoying to upload them, so here's the highlights!
I know this is pretty scatterbrained, but I promise I will be more on top of things from now on.  A special thank you to Aunt Ann for the mail the other day!!!  Again, I can't tell you how much I enjoy  getting mail!
Peace and Love

"Oh! Its for people of all levels!"

I went home yesterday and spent the night!  It was so great!  I can't tell you how wonderful it was to be back home! But this morning came, and it was time for me to head back up to Clinton, both the dorm and the town.  I strongly considered missing my 9:00, but I decided against it.  So I got back to Clinton and went to my classes. But then some excitement came into my day.  I was told, lured, call it what you want, into getting involved with club tennis here at PC.  Let's just flash back quickly to my tennis days in like 4th-8th grade.  I never got better.  I was practically told this by my tennis teacher.  So back to today... to quote some of my friends, "Oh don't worry!  This is for people of all levels!" as well as, "Oh, I'm bad too."  Ok, so those were all lies.  I get to the tennis courts after reliving several rough flashbacks from my tennis days, and I see good people.  Not just good people, but like ridiculously good people.  Turns out, the girls that said they weren't really good, just said that as a ploy.  They were numbers 1 and like 5 on their high school teams. So I "played" with all of them, which consisted of me running from the ball or hitting it over the fence.  Needless to say there was no one on my level.  I pitied the people who had to play with me. I don't know that I will be seen on the courts again anytime soon.  Not unless I'm feeling unusually self confident one morning and need something to take me down some self esteem points.

So now I'm going to do some work.  By the way, I'm still in my exercise clothes.  I enjoy making people think I'm athletic, although the people who saw me on the tennis courts today know otherwise... and probably went to their rooms and laughed about it.
Ok. Peace out.

Mustard from the Sky

So today we had class.  The rest of the world got to celebrate this Labor Day doing NOTING while I woke up at 7:10 to get to class by 10:00... Not too sure why I got up so early.  Probably because I knew I would be dragging. So I went to a fun day of classes and came back to the dorm. A potential swine-er came in so I had to clorox the room.  We had a pretty laid back afternoon.  Then Anna (not the sister) and myself decided to be productive and take a walk around campus.  So we get outside, didn't even get started on our walk and I felt something wet fall on my arm.  There were no clouds in the sky, so I got a little concerned.  I looked down and it was orange bird poop. Like mustard from the sky. Awesome.  Not to get too nasty, but I mean it stained my arm/ my shirt.  SICK. I still have the shirt on by the way.  Not too sure why.  So that grossed me out for awhile, but I mean life goes on.  We still went on our walk.  After dinner we had our weekly Bible study after which I hit up the library.  SUCH a productive night in there!!
I have a french test tomorrow. Can't wait!!!!
Also, my mailbox is a beast to get open, and usually once I, or any rando I can get to do it for me in Springs, gets it open, there is no mail in there.  PLEASE send me letters, packages, etc.  I know I must be collecting all kinds of fans on here, so fan mail would be awesome!
Here is my address.  I am well aware that this is somewhat sketch to put out on the internet, but I mean its not like I live at this address/ this blog only has had 10 views.  So here it is:
Student Box 50431

Thanks in advance for the mail!

Weekends are getting less and less awkward!!

I decided to google "Sarah Derrick freshman blog" to see what would come up and I'm the first result to come up!! How exciting!  I didn't even have to pay any money for that premo spot!
Anyway, some highlights from my weekend...
I just had to write an email to a professor who prefers we call him by his first name.  I don't at all feel ok with the situation, so I have always avoided it.  But we have a paper due tomorrow, and while I am well aware that it is somewhat late to be asking questions, I just had to ask him about the assignment.  I thought about using some other address, but I had to call him by his first name in the email.  I'm still feeling awkward about that.
So in other news, this weekend was the Dukes of Hazard party.  It was very festive!!  Thursday, Callie and myself hit up Hospice (the thrift store) for some clothes for the occasion.  Of course we came across some treasures!  I think the best part of the experience was when we walked into the store and there was a lady standing at the register with a megaphone turning in circles making an announcement that all clothes were 50% off... excluding camo.  Typical Clinton.  Bummer on the camo, but I got 4 shirts for $3.80!! Such a sweet deal!!  So then we ventured into Laurens to find me some shorts.  We found some at Belk (which is free standing... weird) that were already bedazzeled!  Amazing!!
So Friday came, and Callie, Rachel and I headed to Greenville for dinner which was delicious!  We then went to Spill the Beans which was AMAZING!!  So we came back to Clinton... the town and the dorm and stayed in to watch 13 going on 30.  We both fell asleep pretty early into the movie and woke up to a turned off TV.  Neither one of us turned it off.... weird.  Is 402 haunted?  Dear goodness I hope not!!
So here's some excitement!!  We woke up Saturday morning to find that ALL 3 WASHERS AND DRYERS WERE OPEN!!!!  What are the chances?!?!  I'll just tell you... they are slim!  So we took advantage of the situation and did some laundry.  After that exciting morning we went to Furman for the first PC game!  We only stayed until halftime though because it was so so hot!!  We got back and prepared for Dukes of Hazard.  I had such an array of choices of things to wear... compliments of Hospice, all of them so very classy!  We hit up the party and had so so much fun!!
So this morning I had every intention of going Lutheran, but I woke up too late.  So I have stayed in most of what I slept in last night all day.  Kind of nasty.  But I have one and a half papers written and have done some biology reading.  So I would say it has been a very productive day!
Another week starts tomorrow.  BUT I get to go home for the night on Tuesday!!  Words can't describe to you how excited I am about 3 things:
Having a real meal
Sleeping in a comfortable bed
and TAKING A REAL SHOWER!!!  Soooo exciting!!

Just to let you know... the 4 flights have caught up with me.  I was napping the other day (which has kind of become a routine)  and apparently I woke up half way through my nap screaming due to calf cramps.  I am also having soreness in my outer thighs.  Love the lack of elevator here in Clinton.
Also, it has been Sound of Music weekend on abc Family.  This has reminded me of my love for the song "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?"  I am more than willing to sing this at anyone's wedding, with a name change of course.  Just let me know!

Freezing Weather and 48 Hours Without Facebook

It has been cold up here in Clinton... both the dorm and the town.  It pretty much happened overnight!  I was not prepared for this sudden change in weather!  I still have mainly warm weather clothes up here with me.  So yesterday, amongst the cold snap, I decided I would go home just to grab some warmer clothing.  However, I took a nap first.  4 hours later, I woke up! It was nearing 5:00. I therefore missed my opportunity to go home.  So my awesome friend, Callie, convinced me that because I had taken a 4 hour nap and had a somewhat sore throat (now thinking about it, probably from these subarctic conditions) that I had swine flu.  So I freaked out for awhile!  Scary times here on Clinton 4th!  But no worries, I went to the health center and they said they couldn't see me. To which I say, that isn't at all helping prevent the spread of any disease!! I feel pretty much fine now, so I'm pretty sure I am swine-less. But on that topic, so far 2 people have been sent home from PC due to the flu, not too sure if it was swine or not.
In other news, I have been sans-facebook for 2 days... 48 hours exactly!  It was for my freshman class about technology.  I so realized over these past 2 days that facebook is for sure an addiction for me!  But, now that it is past midnight, I can get back on there!  Too exciting!
Tomorrow I have my first 8:00 since the big schedule switch!  This should be entertaining!

Oh, quick update!  I DID NOT win the grill.  Sad but true.
Much love!

The Flood

Ok, so I was in the library tonight. I was studying when Blythe, who lives down the hall came in to tell me that our bathroom had flooded.  So I mean, this was excitement!  I figured something wasn't right earlier when I went in there and saw one shower with some questionable things floating around in there.  Anyway, I wrapped up my studying and climbed to Clinton 4th to find that several showers had in fact overflowed.  The strangest part about all of this would probably have to be the fact that police officers were the ones working to fix the problem.  So very strange. But luckily, they got it fixed.  I was starting to get concerned that I wouldn't be presentable in the morning!
I mean, if that isn't proof that I need a real bathroom again, I don't know what is!
My dad came to get my laundry today.  I don't trust myself with much else other than towels and sheets.  Hopefully those clothes can be returned with some cookies, or other food.  That would be much appreciated!
I think that's pretty much it!  Tomorrow is a short day since I only have 2 classes, both of which are over by 11:00, so I need to find something to do.
Any ideas, or better yet... anyone want to venture up to Clinton (the dorm or the town in this case) to hang out?!
Much love!

First Weekend at PC

So it has been awhile since I wrote here last.  Mainly because my schedule was freaking ridiculous!  To make a long story short, I had too many nights staying up until 2:00 , so I had to drop my english class and pick up french.  Tears were shed, I had a few break downs, but things are working out nicely now!!  Its strange because I'm really not an emtional person, especially around people I don't know; but I mean, this week was crazy!  So it was all very dramatic, but then the weekend came and as of now, I have completely forgotten how difficult it was to keep up with things last week!  Tomorrow starts another week, hopefully better!
But I digress. So sorry for that downer moment.  Let's see, this morning I woke up to go to First Presbyterian here in Clinton and I went to take a shower, and let me just say that by the end of my shower I was in water up to my ankles.  Again I say, the bathrooms up here are so very unfortunate.  So off I went to church where it was college Sunday followed by a really good meal!!  I signed up to be adopted my a family at the church, which I am so looking forward to!  Then started another laundry saga.  This time, a little more extreme than the last time I attempted.  My clothes ended up three buildings down.  I roamed the halls and basement of Clinton so many times with a laundry bag over my shoulder.  I gave up for the time being.
So then I went with Blythe to exercise!  It was a ridiculous 4000 degrees in there so it didn't last too long.  I don't really know what all I accomplished while there; I worked out on an elliptical and a bike which targeted my legs, but I mean, I do that everyday as I climb and descend the stairs of Clinton (today especially as I tried to do laundry).  So maybe that was somewhat worthless, but whatever.
I hit up the library for awhile, but I ended up talking more than I was reading, so I left.  Which takes me back to the whole laundry thing.  I decided to take it once around Clinton again, and again found nothing.  So I moved to plan B.  I had heard that there was a place to do laundry a few buildings down.  Desperately, I went down there... in the rain.  I did find a place to do my laundry, but I still am not too sure what exactly what the building is, but I mean, at least I found a place.
I have so much to do right now, but I am not at all motivated presently. Wish me luck this week!
Oh, by the way, still no word from Ingles or Alex... just saying.

"I'll take the first week of college for $300"

One of my biggest fears is reading out loud. I have heart palpitations at the thought. I can talk out loud without any withdraws, but I cannot read out loud. So today I go into my English class, which I am taking simply to fulfill a gen ed, and one of the first things my professor says, "I hope you're comfortable reading out loud, because we're going to be doing a lot of that in here!" I was totally freaking out for awhile.  It got worse when she called on me to read a portion of the syllabus.  So I had a shaky voice and stuttered.... a lot. Seriously? Now she probably thinks I'm incompetent. Love it. Its not my fault I'm not a confident reader! So hopefully I won't have to do this often, and if I do, hopefully things will get better!
So after that festive hour of my life I headed to my chemistry class, which I think will be ok. No interesting stories from there.
Then today there was a CEP, Cultural Enrichment Program. My usually trustworthy sister, Anna, told me there were going to be Chinese acrobats! I, in turn told several people the same thing.  I arrived at said CEP and there were no Chinese acrobats to be found.  There were some odd dancer/ interpretative movement people.... So I, as well as the people I had shared faulty information with were pretty let down.
I went to Springs for lunch; it was great.  Then came a first of my time at PC... I came to my room, gathered my dirty clothes, and descended 5 flights of stairs to the basement of Clinton to do laundry.  I'm pretty sure asbestos lurks down there. I went down the stairs to put a load in, came back up, went back down to transfer the clothes/ put new clothes in the washer, came up, went back down to get the last load out of the washer and into the dryer, came back up, and finally went down to retrieve the last load from the dryer, and in turn came back up.  So that is 4 trips up and down the stairs, 20 flights of stairs just to do laundry. In shape? No I'm not.  I caught my breath after about an hour. Those 20 flights do not include the subsequent flights I took on a usual basis. BUT, I successfully washed 2 loads of clothes without any mishaps!!!
So we went to dinner in GDH, I had some pasta. Again, nothing too exciting.  Then we went to a block party in Clinton.  I got lots of free stuff and entered to win several drawings (the main one I'm pulling for is a grill from Ingles. That's just what Clinton 4th needs is a grill!) I also signed up to be a big sister in the Big brothers/ Big Sisters program, a volunteer at the local nursing home, a helper with Relay for Life, and a worker with Habitat for Humanity. Productive trip to downtown Clinton? I think yes!
So after that I decided to finish my biology reading in the library!  By the way, words can't describe to you the difficulty I went through to get my hands on a book... I'm still waiting on one to come into the bookstore so I must borrow from others for the time being.  I felt very studious in the library, and I got a good 30 minutes of work in before I had to head to HP's computer lab to take the Jeopardy College Online Test.  For those of you who may not know, one of my gifts in life is excelling while watching Jeopardy.  So I figured, who better to be on this show than me?!  But, the questions weren't on my areas of expertise.  Therefore, I am not expecting a phone call from Alex anytime soon.  However, my precious friends sat there with me while I took it.
So we headed back to the dorm, but I stopped by the library to finish up my biology.  Again, I felt very much on top of things! I'm thinking this become a routine!
So for the most part, that was my day. I'll keep you posted as to if I receive any phone calls from Alex, or if I acquire a grill from Ingles!

First days at PC

So I have decided to start a blog. Mainly because I feel like I attract weird situations, so they really need to be shared.
I'm a 1/2 week into college and its great! I've already made some great friends and some special memories!
So first I thought I'd share some special things about my living situation......
1) I love love love the 4 flights of stairs I must climb to get to my room. I really have to have good reason to go downstairs because it is quite the haul back upstairs.
2) I love so very many things about the hall bath:
    - The fact that I must plan out my trips to the bathroom. I guess I was too used to having one right there at my room at home. I should have been preparing for this.
    - I'm a tall girl. The bathroom stalls are made for people of a shorter stature. I can't stand all the way up, because if I do, I appear to be creeping over into the next stalls.
    - Nothing beats having to wear shoes in the shower. It's just marvelous.
    - The shower drain is located in the top corner or the shower stall. Water collects in the shower and doesn't drain. When I get in the shower, its not my water sitting there in the bottom.
3) I do have a great room mate! She is precious! She shares so many thing in common with me. For one, she has to watch TV to fall asleep, just like I do! I really didn't think that would happen!

Despite the somewhat strange living situation, I am having so so much fun!! I still am getting used to things, but I can tell I'm going to love it! Classes started today so I'm finally getting into a routine. Its also great having my sister up here! I love running into her randomly/ when I hunt her down.  There are 99 people in my biology class! That is pretty crazy! I went to get my books to day and that kind of depressed me! So very many books to read for english!!

I have so much more that is going on, but I just can't write about it all! I'm having so much fun!
